2018 is going to be another year full of interesting music events in Newcastle.

Wilkinson – 14.2.

O2 Academy Newcastle

British DJ Wilkinson, best known for his successful song Afterglow, is hitting the road with a Hypnotic UK live tour in February and March 2018. His first stop is going to be O2 Academy in Newcastle upon Tyne so we can most definitely look forward to an amazing opening show of his tour.

Franz Ferdinand – 16.2.

O2 Academy Newcastle

Indie-rock sensation from Scotland – Franz Ferdinand are bringing their music back to Newcastle after long 9 years. Fans are impatiently awaiting the release of their fifth studio album called Always Ascending scheduled for February 9. Two-time Brit Award winner and multiple Grammy nominee is coming to introduce the album to Newcastle’s O2 Academy on February 16 as a part of their 2018 international tour.

The Script – 19.2.

Metro Radio Arena

After touring the United States, Dublin’s favourite band The Script is coming back to the islands and is kicking the new year off with the UK and Ireland arena tour. The group was given the most attention after the release of a song feat. will.i.am – Hall of Fame from their album #3  back in 2012, followed by  They will be presenting their new album Freedom Child  that features the TOP 20 UK single “Rain” at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle on Monday February 19.

Rae Morris – 15.3.

O2 Academy Newcastle

Twenty-five ear old Rachelle Morris whose stage name is Rae Morris released her debut song in March 2012 and has been rising as an artist ever since. British indie/pop singer is hitting the road to support her second, brand new album Someone Out There and is kicking off her UK tour on March 3 at the O2 Academy in Newcastle. By watching Rae’s surprise live set from Glastonbury, we can expect an ethereal performance, just as fascinating as her wonderfully wild hair.

Jessie Ware – 21.3.

O2 Academy Newcastle

London born and raised singer is bringing her magical voice back on her third solo album Glasshouse. Jessie works with multiple successful artist in the field such as Florence and the Machine or Nicki Minaj. And she co-wrote one of her biggest songs Say You Love Me with Ed Sheeran and has also worked on some of his songs with him. As a four-time BRIT Award nominee says, her 13-months-old daughter is “basically the muse for this new record” of hers, which makes the whole album and the atmosphere of her upcoming shows a lot more personal than in the past. You can come see for yourself on Wednesday March 21 at O2 Academy Newcastle.

Sam Smith – 21.3.

Metro Radio Arena

Since he was featured on Disclosure’s breakthrough single Latch in 2012, his career had caught fire and Sam Smith became one of the most worldwide recognized male singers of last couple years. His hugely successful debut album In The Lonely Hour has sold over 12 million copies worldwide. This year he is bringing his second studio album The Thrill of It All to live on an arena world tour, introducing well known singles Too Good at Goodbyes or Pray. A second stop of his biggest headline tour so far is going to be Metro Radio Arena on Wednesday 21 March.

Callum Scott – 14.4.

Newcastle University

He dazzled the whole world when he appeared on the ninth season of Britain’s got Talent in 2015 and subsequently released a cover of Robyn’s single Dancing on my Own for which he was nominated for a British Single of the Year at the Brit Awards in 2017. Callum Scott is headlining his first UK tour this year – promoting his highly anticipated debut album Only Human and on April 14 he is going to perform at an untraditional venue – the Newcastle University Student’s Union.

Walk Off The Earth – 1.5.

Sage Gateshead

As a part of European branch of their tour, the Canadian multi-genre musical phenomenon Walk off the Earth is bringing their energetic performance to Sage Gateshead on Tuesday 1 May. This independent band from Ontario is best known for pop megahits covers on YouTube, using unusual instruments such as ukulele or theremin, but also for the refreshing sound of their original music. They were nominated for a YouTube Music Award with their cover of I Knew You Were Trouble and their version of Gotye’s Somebody I Used to Know has over 180 million views on YouTube.

Rita Ora – 13.5.

O2 Academy Newcastle

British singer Rita Ora is returning to the stage with an amazing UK tour following the release of her latest singles Your Song and Anywhere and the expected release of her new album in March. As she says: “it is going to be like Ora overdose”. So far it seems like the new album is going to have a lot more EDM influence and a groovy sound to it. So, do not wait until it’s too late and go grab Rita Ora tickets before it’s too late.

Ed Sheeran – 8.6., 9.6., 10.6.

St James’ Park Newcastle

Britan’s and the whole world’s sweetheart Ed Sheeran is bringing not one, but three life shows to Newcastle this upcoming June! You can grab tickets for his epic guitar vs. man performances for either 8th, 9th or 10th of June and go enjoy the party at St James’ Park in Newcastle. Award-winning singer is touring the world with his third studio album ÷. Singles Shape of You, Castle on the Hill or Perfect feat. Beyoncé have reached number one in the UK and US. What can be better than kicking off summer by singing along with Ed Sheeran under the open sky.
