SARAH REESON-JONES

FASHION BA (HONS)

Womenswear designer Sarah Reeson-Jones, originally from Alford in Lincolnshire, has created her collection as a reaction to cult-based book ‘The Girls’, by author Emma Cline. The book is based in a late sixties California and follows the desperate desire of 14-year-old Evie to fit in when she becomes involved with an older gang of girls living in a mysterious commune.

Sarah’s garments feature hippie-like accents harping back to the 60s, contrasted with military influences in a uniformed cohesiveness to celebrate female empowerment – female unity being at the core of her collection. Iconographic prints also take form, using colourful psychedelic artwork from the late 60s.

The final year student has completed placements at Erdem and Whistles during her time at University.
