DANIELLE HILL

FASHION BA (HONS)

Recognising and thanking our country’s special forces and emergency services is the inspiration behind young designer Danielle Hill’s final year fashion collection. The outfits feature a juxtaposition of delicate silk drapery and fine laddered knitwear, with strong handcrafted leather pieces, representing the uniform and protective garments worn by those who aid the public in times of need.

Danielle, from Leeds in West Yorkshire, says garment construction is key when she’s designing, and is fascinated with the trend of sustainable fashion and upcycling garments. She is very visual in the way she works and is a keen pattern cutter – finding the most therapeutic part of designing, hanging fabric over a mannequin to discover a drape or silhouette.

She has completed two industry placements while studying on the course; Aitor Throup in Hoxton, London, and Gap, in Tribeca, New York, which she won through a University live project.
