PENNY CHARLOTTE GIBBS

FASHION BA (HONS)

Penny Charlotte Gibbs has had a passion and love for skiing from a young age, which is why her final year collection is inspired by the winter sport. The knitwear designer, who is originally from Lincoln, has looked into the archives of skiwear and through sampling and experimentation, has transformed traditional ski clothing into a modern knitwear collection.

A key detail within Penny’s collection is the use of zip placement, using them in an abstract way to enhance the silhouette or the overall look of a garment. The attitude to the collection is inspired by Après ski, with an exciting, fun and free feel, featuring iconic 60s and 70s prints and colourful patterns. There is also an element of freedom and enjoyment within the collection.

Penny completed a placement as a womenswear knitwear intern at Hobbs while at the University, as well as travelling to New York as a menswear designer as part of the Next Level Exchange Program, where she was lead designer of a fall collection.
