Legal Practice Course

Where are you from?

Newcastle upon Tyne

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is my home and there is such a variety of things to do, from a day at the beach to ice-skating at the Centre for Life. I really enjoy how friendly the culture is.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

I've lived in Newcastle all my life so nothing really surprises me anymore! It is a very vibrant place and criminally misrepresented on TV programmes like Geordie Shore.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

I enjoy having all my lectures and seminars within the same building. There are plenty of opportunities to get to know course-mates so it's easy to fit in.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Learning about the law in an excellent teaching environment.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

My tutors.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The Law library - when it's quiet!

What is the best thing about your course?

The quality of the teaching.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

To work little and often - law is a marathon, not a sprint.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to be a solicitor and feel that my current course is excellent in laying down the groundwork skills I'll need for my progress.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Take advantage of the open days on offer to get a sense of what Northumbria is really about - the free drinks are another perk!

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Worthwhile, daunting, transformative!

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Yes!
