CLEARING

Clearing is the UCAS process that matches students without a confirmed university place to courses that still have vacancies, so if your plans change you still have options. It runs from July until courses fill, busiest around A-level results day in August.

FAQS ABOUT CLEARING

Clearing is the UCAS process that matches students who don't have a confirmed university place with courses that still have vacancies. While it is most commonly used around A-level results day, many courses can remain open to applications up until Autumn.
You can use Clearing if your results are different to what you expected, if you don't hold any offers, if you've decided a course isn't right for you, or if you're applying to university for the first time after the main UCAS deadline.

Clearing usually opens in July and runs until courses fill, with the busiest period around A-level results day in August. Some courses remain available into September.

If you're interested in finding out more and being first to hear about Clearing updates, you will be able to register your interest with us ahead of time.

The majority of applicants don't need to go though Clearing. It's there as an option if your circumstances change, so it's worth understanding how it works even if you don't expect to use it.
Requirements for courses may be subject to change during Clearing, so we recommend checking our website regularly for the most up to date information. We accept all Level 3 qualifications that carry UCAS Tariff points. If you're close to the requirements, get in touch during Clearing - we'll do our best to help.
