How will I learn during this Entrepreneurship course?
The course begins with a critical, evidence-based
introduction to the ideas, examples and theories from the world of
entrepreneurship, alongside broader marketing studies. You’ll cover topics
including recognising entrepreneurial opportunities, entrepreneurial management
and creativity and innovation.
In the middle of year two the course splits into two
pathways. Based on your interests so far, you will chose either Pathway 1 or 2.
Pathway 1 is a general entrepreneurship course and offers options on
digital enterprise, family business and on key lessons from business failure. Pathway 2 is an enterprise route focusing on your own business start-up.
You’ll learn through seminars, problem-based workshops, case
discussions, practical activities, group work and tutorials. To help you
develop your independent learning skills, you’ll also complete directed tasks
for every module – assignments you undertake in your own time.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments involve applying business principles to solve
problems through business reports, presentations and portfolios. In the final
year you’ll either write a dissertation or join a team consultancy project for
a real-life client. If the optional placement year isn’t for you though, you’ll
need to complete a consultancy project to get real-world experience, rather
than the dissertation.
We back up all our teaching with well-designed support
systems to help you get the most from your opportunities. And we make sure that
we build extensive feedback, from both tutors and peers, into the course.
Throughout your studies, you’ll be able to discuss any academic or personal
issues with your Personal Tutor.
