Northumbria University is partner with LinkedIn Learning to provide you with the opportunity expand your skillsets and gain credit towards our Data Science MSc degree programme.

Students who complete selected Learning Pathways on LinkedIn Learning are eligible to receive course credit into our Data Science MSc degree programme upon successful completion of an online assessment. By following the LinkedIn Learning Pathway, your credits earned will mean you have an exemption from studying one of your master’s modules, freeing you up to focus on completing the remaining modules.

Northumbria Module KL7010 Principles of Data Science

Knowledge & Understanding:

1. Demonstrate critical understanding of foundations and principles of data science

2. Demonstrate deep knowledge of fundamental statistical methods, techniques and applications in data science Intellectual / Professional skills & abilities:

3. Critically assess, select, and apply data collection and cleaning, visualization, statistical inference, predictive modelling, and decision making for statistical analysis in the context of applied data analysis problems

4. Critically evaluate the choice of data science techniques and tools for particular scenarios Personal Values Attributes (Global / Cultural awareness, Ethics, Curiosity) (PVA): 5. Build a critical awareness of professional, legal, cultural and ethical issues surrounding analysis, exploration, protection and dissemination of data in the context of your role as a data scientist

Northumbria Module KL7012 Statistical Programming

Knowledge & Understanding:

1. Demonstrate deep knowledge and practical skills for understanding the statistical methods and techniques for data science

2. Critically assess application of adequate techniques for understanding and exploring business data and how it can be exploited for decision making with programming in R Intellectual / Professional skills & abilities:

3. Appraise and Apply different statistical methods and techniques to real world business environment having to deal with and exploit huge volumes of data using R programming environment

4. Evaluate and reflect on solving real life business problems using suitable statistical techniques Personal Values Attributes (Global / Cultural awareness, Ethics, Curiosity) (PVA):

5. Build a critical awareness of legal, cultural and ethical issues surrounding analysis, exploration and dissemination of data

 

Data Science MSc

This exciting Data Science master's has been designed by top academics in the field, in close consultation with leading data scientists from the industry and the Northumbria University Institute of Coding (IoC). It will provide you with the relevant skills needed to analyse, synthesise, and manage different types and sizes of data efficiently.

This programme is designed to train and produce data scientists who will fill a range of jobs requiring skills in methodical and statistical data analysis and help organisations (e.g., businesses, healthcare providers, financial institutions, industries) make the most of their huge amounts of data. You will develop knowledge insight from a variety of structured and unstructured data, using a range of data analysis methods, processes, algorithms, and systems.

Our Data Science MSc is available as a 1 Year full-time, 16 month full-time and 2 Year full-time with Advanced Practice.
