Overview of Doctoral Research

Sleep restriction and impaired glucose regulation – underlying mechanisms and potential interventions

Emma’s PhD research focuses on the interaction between sleep and metabolic health in adults. Specifically, Emma’s research aims to explore why short sleep can negatively impact metabolic health, as well as investigate the possible role that exercise can play in this relationship. In addition, Emma’s research explores the associations between sleep habits and other lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and body composition in the general population. This research will give further insight into how sleep impacts different aspects of health and may have implications for individuals who are regularly sleep deprived.
