Northumbria’s Solar-Terrestrial Science group is working closely with the Met Office Space Weather Operations Centre on space weather forecasting. The UK Met Office is developing a system of forecasting all types of space weather. Northumbria is playing multiple roles in the £20M UKRI Space Weather Instrumentation, Measurement, Modelling and Risk (SWIMMR) programme which will improve the UK’s expertise for monitoring and predicting space weather. Projects as part of this include:
