This issue’s cover story sees Northumbria ‘Taking on the World’ after a substantial jump in the University’s world ranking in the latest global league tables. We also have special features on our pioneering research, taking place everywhere from outer space to the coldest climates, as well as pages dedicated to the opening of new world-class buildings on campus, such as our £7m Computer and Information Sciences Building and new 24/7 Digital Commons, and even a feature on how our academics commemorated the 90th anniversary of the Tyne Bridge.

There is also our ‘Big Interview’ on Pg. 9 with Professor Andrew Wathey CBE, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, discussing our new University Strategy 2018-2023. And on Pg. 32-33, you can read a selection of outstanding comment pieces written by the University’s academic experts for global news The Conversation. Finally, in our Sport pages you can meet our new student sport president Marc Wood and read all about the University’s rugby stars leading the way in a new China partnership.
