FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find quick answers to common questions about travelling to uni.

When attending lectures, requirements may change depending on the module or course you study. However, it is important to always have a note-taking material, such as a notepad or a laptop.

Make sure you always have your student smartcard to hand when you’re on campus. This card will monitor your attendance and allow you to access the library and limited-access facilities.

Campus attendance requirements vary depending on your course. Your timetable will show your scheduled teaching sessions. Some courses have higher contact hours, while others require more independent study.

Your timetable will be available to view once you’ve enrolled, typically a few weeks before the semester begins.

Your timetable is available through your student portal once you've enrolled.

Many students work part-time while studying. If you’re considering working, you’ll need to ensure you balance your work commitments with studying.

International students on a Student visa may have restrictions on the number of hours they can work during term time. If you're an international student, you need to check your visa conditions.

Being a commuting student does not exclusively give you access to additional funding.

You might, however, find yourself eligible for one of the many funding support options at Northumbria.
