Keeping busy during your free time is easier than ever in Newcastle, there are plenty of options in the City, whether you’d like to explore new places, or try new things, there’s something for everyone. Newcastle has great transport links regionally, nationally and internationally, allowing you to further explore wherever you please. You don’t have to travel to have a good time, with a long list of things to do in the city centre such as sports, galleries and nightlife. 

Newcastle upon Tyne can be your hub to explore the UK as well as further afield, no matter what your budget, new horizons can be within reach.The North East of England is full of scenic places to visit, including Durham and Alnwick. You can explore the history of the region and its castles and landscapes. If you’d like to venture outside of the City, Newcastle also has great connections by rail. With Edinburgh and London both easily accessible, you could use the opportunity to explore the whole of the UK. If travel isn’t your thing, there’s a wide range of activities available in Newcastle upon Tyne, including sports, societies and other things to do. Northumbria University is home to the award winning Sport Central, a membership can give you use of the facilities including gym, swimming pool, classes and sports hall. Newcastle is also well known for its social life, with a vast array of restaurants and bars to explore. There are also a number of coffee shops and cafés to visit, each with a unique trend and sight. It doesn’t end there, with more sights such as BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, the Centre for Life and the Discovery Museum to explore the region's past and future.
