Spring-Term Placements

Only one block placement begins in the Spring Term - our BA Early Primary Education students' second placement; you will find a breakdown of the details below.

BA Second Year – Intermediate Placement

Dates: 9th Jan to 17th Mar 2023 (8 weeks; excluding w/c 23rd January for call back to University)

Please note that by committing to host students for this placement, you are also committing to host them for their non-assessed placement with BR@P in the Autumn term (4 weeks November - December).

Placement Setting: EYFS, KS1 or KS2

Amount Payable to School: £800 per pair of students

At the end of their first year of training, students will have selected an age phase (3-7 years or 7-11 years) to specialise in for the remainder of the programme. This is an eight-week teaching opportunity in a paired placement within their chosen age phase. Students will be teaching a 50% timetable for eight weeks. This is structured as follows: 

2 weeks non-assessed (9th - 20th January 2023)

1 week call back at University (w/c 23rd January 2023) 

6 weeks assessed (30th January - 17th March 2023) 

Usually, two students are placed in the same class and share the planning and delivery of lessons. Team-teaching is encouraged on this placement. During this placement, the emphasis is on students developing an understanding of effective behaviour management, as well as beginning to develop their teaching skills, particularly in the core subjects. 

Students will require a member of staff to be assigned as a mentor who will monitor progress via a weekly review of progress meeting and give regular feedback both verbal and written after lesson observations. Schools are required to submit an end of placement report, as well as brief phonics and maths reports.
