Where are you from?

Leeds

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I chose Northumbria University because it matched everything I wanted in a University, from my chosen course to the city itself. It's a well known University and its a mixture of traditional and modern. It's not too far away from home either!

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is really great city; It's so easy to get around and there are plenty of things to do- you'll never get bored! I like to visit the Students' Union at Northumbria and I also like going into the city centre with friends!

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

I was surprised at how easy it is to get around the city. There are a lot of transport links including buses, trains and the metro; It's simple to get anywhere and everywhere! I was impressed at how easy and accessible different transport is, especially for students.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

I found Northumbria very welcoming. In Fresher's Week, there was the Fresher's Fair and a lot of events to welcome new students to Northumbria. I was quite nervous about making friends as I didn't know of anybody else that was coming to Northumbria but I have made really great friends on my course.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

I have really enjoyed my course so far and the friends I've made at Northumbria. I've also enjoyed exploring a new city and becoming a University student in general!

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

Since I came to Northumbria, friends and different lecturers and tutors that I have met on my course have helped me the most - whether it has been regarding revision, seminar work, lectures and timetabling!

What is your favourite place on campus?

My favourite place on campus has to be the Law Building. It is probably where I spend most of my time with friends doing work! It has really great facilities including its own Law Library and Court rooms!

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

Since coming to Northumbria, I have joined the Grey Society and the Mock Trials Society which are relevant to my course. I am also a course representative for Law and I am also a volunteer at the University.

What is the best thing about your course?

The best thing about my course is that it offers a successful integrated Masters programme while at the same time a Qualifying Law Degree. It is recognised highly by law firms and stands out on my CV - It offers more than an ordinary law degree!

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

The most valuable lessons I have learnt are to balance everything. Although it is really good to work hard academically, it is equally important to relax and have fun every once in a while!

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

After my degree, I would like to go down the route of Company Law or Property Law. Either that, or become a lecturer! I have definitely improved my time management skills since coming to University and I have become more independent!

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Northumbria is the best place if you want to get the most out of your degree. There is so much support for students available and there is so much to do and see, not just at campus but throughout the whole city. Being a student at Northumbria will definitely be a great experience!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I feel like I have grown more independent and I have developed my various skills further.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Exciting, Interesting, Amazing!

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?
