Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Because of the degree I wanted to study - only Northumbria and one other instituion offered the degree.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is such a friendly place to live, it's not like most cities because it's quite small and so it's not as easy to get lost. Everyone is so helpful and understanding of students just starting university in Newcastle. It's so good to go out at night around Newcastle because it's safe!

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

The friendliness of people and their willingness to help and how accessible it is to everywhere too. There are so many ways to travel back home such as trains, the coach or the Mega Bus.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Yes! The Welcome Week was really useful in helping me understand that every student goes through the same process. It was nice to know if I needed help - it was there!

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

The ability to meet new people, such as my amazing flatmates.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

Northumbria's bursary. I was worried about not being able to afford anything whilst being here but the bursary has really helped. Northumbria pay towards my accommodation too, so it's nice to be able to do nice things that I like to do.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

My tutors - they are so helpful and share their experiences.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The Business school. It's so spacious and there is always a computer free to do work.

What is the best thing about your course?

A chance of a 2nd Year placement, I haven't secured one yet, but, I have learned alot of useful things to set me up for employment.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Employability skills.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to work in Recruitment. I now know how to approach a job and have been prepared for interviews.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

I am currently looking for a placement. I have worked on projects with John Lewis, Northumbria University, Quorum Business Park, Thinking Digital and the Prince's Trust!

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

I have had opportunities to go on Army days and team building exercises. 

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Northumbria University offer so much help to new students. There are lots of things to do and see in Newcastle. There are a number of people there to help you if you ever need anything and it's fun! The accommodation is safe and there is nothing to worry about. It's the perfect city to go to University in!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I have grown in confidence and met different kinds of people.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Fun, challenging, different!

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Yes!
