What appealed to you about Northumbria University / studying in Newcastle?
I really loved the city; it’s got a great friendly atmosphere. I had heard from a friend that the Psychology department was good too.
What was it about the course / subject area that particularly appealed?
Psychology had been my best subject at A Level and I found it really interesting so decided to pursue it further. I am really interested in the Clinical side.
What qualifications did you have?
A Levels, A in Psychology, B in English Language and C in Biology
How did you feel during your first week at Northumbria?
Excited; it was a whole new experience to anything I’d ever experienced before!
What do you like most about the course?
I find having studied Biology at A Level that really helps me with the Biological side! This year I’m most enjoying Eating Disorders!
How do you get on with your tutors?
I find them all very approachable and helpful.
What do you do when you’re not studying?
Apart from mentoring, I work 20 hours a week in a call centre, and fit in the gym when I have time! The city has a great atmosphere, it doesn’t feel like a proper city because I feel so comfortable walking round and it feels much safer than other cities. Of course the nightlife is definitely better than average too!
What’s your accommodation like?
I live in a house in Heaton, it’s comfortable, although I do miss living in halls and being closer to town.
What would you like to do when you graduate?
Ideally, I would like to do Clinical Psychology.
Do you have any advice for anyone applying for your course, or for university in general?
Make the most of your first year, it’s the most fun you’ll have at university without worrying about the work too much! Don’t leave your work until the last minute though.
What three words would you use to describe your time at Northumbria?
Exciting, Unpredictable, Interesting.
