Where are you from?
Cleethorpes
Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?
I chose Northumbria because it had everything i was looking for. The course looked incredibly interesting and included in the module was things I was interested in and some things in which I had never had the chance study before and I liked the chance of learning something completely new. I had also had friends that had studied here and heard only but great things about every aspect, i.e university, the city.
What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?
I like Newcastle as it's one of the most friendliest cities I've been too and there's so much to do. My favourite things to do are to go to the cinema, go for walks down the Quayside, go shopping or go out for food.
What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?
What surprised me the most was how close everything was to each other. I can walk everywhere which saves money on buses and keeps me on my feet doing exercise.
Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?
I felt the university was very welcoming from the first day as there was always helpers around the campus if I were unsure where to go. It was easy to fit in especially on my course as we spent a lot of time getting to know eachother in seminars which made me feel so much more comfortable and then I could enjoy my course more.
What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?
I have mostly enjoyed meeting new people from all over the country and having lots of fun.
Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?
My guidance tutor Niel has helped me the most since I came to Northumbria as he has helped me with my study skills as well as being supportive.
Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?
One of my lecturers Robert Jefferson. He taught me a module on Animation and I had no interest in animation before I came to Northumbria. He has inspired me to take this further and I have even taken it as my main module next year.
What is the best thing about your course?
The best thing about my course is that I enjoy the group work. It means you can get work done, have a laugh and share each others ideas.
What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?
To not leave assignments to the last minute!
What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?
I am undecided at what i want too be however I am slightly interested in becoming a teacher. I have learnt many timekeeping skills and social skills.
Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.
I attended a field trip with my course to the set of the 'Dumping ground', 'The Tracy Beaker' spin-off show. This was an hour away and we got a coach and got food provided. This was the best trip I've been on as it was fun, something different and actually I learnt alot. We also went bowling as a course and I was terrible so lost.
If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?
Definitely consider Northumbria as it has got everything you want, a great university, a great city, a great night out and the best experience.
How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?
I have gained confidence and gained independence.
If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?
Fun, crazy, great!
Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?
Yes!
