Where are you from?

Bradford

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Loved the City when I visited, and the course here covered all the aspects I was most interested in.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is lovely, and still close to quieter areas such as Tynemouth. One of my favourite things to do is to go shopping - as all the shops here are massive and have lots to look at, as well as the nightlife - theres always something happening.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

How easy I've found it to know where everything is - it's a big city but after a short while you don't get lost!

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Yes, Northumbria has been very welcoming, and you easily fit in and feel like you're a part of it. It doesn't feel like I'm a first year anymore - just another student.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Meeting new people, and I'm really enjoying the course and learning all about something I'm really interested in.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

The tutors - they're amazing!

What is the best thing about your course?

The hands on and practical aspects - meaning I've been able to see first hand examples of the work, as well as have group based classes on technical skills.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Being confident in yourself - as an art based class it's easy to just write off your own work as not good enough, whereas being with other people helps highlight qualities of your own work you might not have noticed before.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I am aiming to start my own business, so learning in the Marketing module has greatly improved my understanding of concepts I can apply.

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

We have been to a couple of Galleries and museums; one being the Hancock in Newcastle; I found it interesting to be able to see and draw the artefacts there; especially the taxidermy.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Go for which University you feel is most you! After looking round lots of different universities, I realised that Northumbria was most reflective of my personality, and it was definitely the right choice!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

Grown in confidence, and starting to realise to take my own responsibility for things, not to rely on others.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Fun, Exciting, Interesting

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Yes, definitely!
