Are you dealing with a lot of waste and inefficiencies in your organisation? Are you dealing with some complicated operational problems and issues without knowing the solution? Are you tasked with improving your cost efficiency, customer satisfaction and financial performance?

This two-day Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt course, designed for middle to senior managers in private and public sector organisations, introduces participants to two powerful business and operational excellence strategies, developed to transform business processes.

Lean Six Sigma is a proven Operational Excellence (OPEX) methodology that provides organisations with a systematic and scientific approach to solve business problems, which leads to enhanced profitability, improved productivity, increased customer satisfaction and an improved overall business performance. Using exciting tools and techniques, participants will adopt lean thinking and be equipped with skills and confidence to identify and reduce waste.

Having successfully completed an open book Multiple Choice exam at the end of day 2 and a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt project, participants will be awarded a Certificate in Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. This Certificate provides a demonstration of managerial readiness and knowledge to develop and embed these techniques and tools within organisation strategy. This course can be used as a precursor for completing the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt course.

Prof Jiju Antony

Prof Jiju Antony is recognised worldwide as a leader in OPEX methodology for achieving and sustaining organisational excellence. He is a part-time Professor of Quality and Operational Excellence at Newcastle Business School, in the Faculty of Business and Law at Northumbria University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society (UK), Fellow of the Institute for Operations Management (UK), Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Fellow of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), a Fellow of the Institute of the Six Sigma Professionals (ISSP). He is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt from three professional bodies and has trained over 1500 people as Lean Six Sigma Yellow, Green and Black Belts from over 20 countries representing over 180 organisations in the last 15 years.

He has also published over 300 journal and conference papers on Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma topics and is the highest in the world for the number of citations and H-index. He has coached and mentored several Lean Six Sigma projects from various companies in the UK ranging from manufacturing (Siemens, Tata, Thales, Nokia, Philips, Rolls Royce), service to public sector organisations including NHS, Glasgow City Council, Edinburgh City Council, Police Scotland, ACCESS, Scottish Water, and many University sectors. He has recently been appointed as the Vice President of Research for the most prestigious International Academy for Quality (IAQ) set by Dr Ishikawa, Dr Deming, and Dr Juran in the late 1950s.

Dr Alireza Shokri

Dr Alireza Shokri is an Associate Professor (Reader) in Operations and Supply Chain Management and the subject group leader of "Operations, Supply Chain and Logistics Management" in the Department of Operations, Marketing and Systems. Before joining Newcastle Business School in 2011, Alireza had different practitioner roles including supply chain manager, quality manager, and ISO9001 internal consultant in food sector. Alireza completed his PhD in Lean Six Sigma application within food distribution SMEs in 2011 and since then he is working as an academic. He was recently part of the project management team as the quality manager and researcher of a multi-disciplinary global EU-funded (1m Euros) project as part of "Horizon 2020" called "GETM3 Project". Alireza was involved as principal investigator in an Innovate UK-funded feasibility study (£300k) in collaboration with external partners in digital supply chain and predictive maintenance integration. Recently, Alireza is leading the Digital Catapult and Digital Supply Chain Hub-funded project as the principal investigator in partnership with industry with the value of £1.3M.

Alireza is a member of Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) as the practitioner. Alongside that, Alireza is the Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), and member of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) that is co-joint professional body with Chartered Institute of Operations Management (CIOM). Alireza is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Green belt with professional capability of leading on Lean Six Sigma projects.

Dr Adrian Small

Dr Adrian Small is an Associate Professor in Operations Management in Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK. Adrian's academic background focused upon management, and in particular managing intangible goods and services. With a keen interest in technology, Adrian obtained an MSc degree in Business Information Technology where he was able to combine his business skills with the ever-changing field of information technology. Through his PhD research Adrian was able to engage more with Operations Management challenges and how such challenges impact on organisations.

As an outcome, Adrian has a keen interest in Operations Management in both manufacturing and service organisations. Adrian has a broad interest in Operations Management and Service Operations Management but with particular interest in process improvement, continuous improvement, and Lean. Adrian is also interested in Problem Structuring Methods (PSM) as well as all aspects of technology including design, implementation, and use.
