Northumbria has been working with the Turing Scheme since 2021/22 successfully sending over 200 students out each year with the majority of the students being supported by Turing grants.
Northumbria University has once again received generous funding from the Turing Scheme to help students work, volunteer, research and study abroad in the academic year 2023-24.
The £100-million-per-year programme focuses on supporting students from widening participation backgrounds, fostering partnerships globally, developing key employability skills and providing value for UK taxpayers. Northumbria has secured more than £1.2M to support over 540 students. This includes undergraduate semester and yearlong study abroad, international short programmes in the summer, study and research opportunities and PhD students visits to partners in over 50 countries.
A note on Erasmus. The United Kingdom is no longer able to participate in the Erasmus Programme and not covered
by the External Action. This means the UK is not contributing to the scheme but
can receive students from associated countries who might wish to use an Erasmus
grant to support their mobility to the UK.
