I am a Nigerian national. I did my BSc and MSc degree in Mathematics at Bayero University Kano in Nigeria. I first came to the UK in 2013 on a scholarship to do a Masters by Research in Mathematics at the University of Leicester. After then I was funded by Newcastle University for a PhD in information geometry for phylogenetic trees.
I am interested in developing (non-Euclidean) geometric statistical methods for the analysis of data sets of phylogenetic trees. This methodology has a natural extension to graph-valued data, with an increasing number of problems in transport networks, genes, and neurology. I am also working with colleagues at Newcastle University to find early indicators of Parkinson's disease by analysis muscle activation patterns.
