As outlined in our information on harassment and sexual misconduct, Northumbria has established clear policies and protocols for addressing unacceptable behaviour, including bullying, harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct. These frameworks are designed to ensure that concerns are investigated fairly and resolved appropriately.

Below, you’ll find links to the key policies and protocols that outline how the University sets out behaviour expectations, including Quick Guides to our investigation protocols.

Investigation Protocols

Where a report of sexual harassment or misconduct is made to the University by one of our students, this will be investigated under the Student Complaint Procedure Category B, which is outlined in section 10 of the relevant Handbook of Student Regulations.

As a reporter, you will be offered support by our specialist Serious Welfare team.

As a responder, you will also be offered support - please see our Quick Guides below for further information.
