Ahmed Elnazir

Career Path: Managing Director, Global Translations UK
Location: Manchester, UK

Since I was a child I always had a strong interest in business. From selling sweets on the school playground to finding unique goods from different countries and selling them online all before the age of 16, I've always had an entrepreneurial flair. During my placement year, I completed my internship in Greece for a leading translation agency, where I learnt about the sector by working in a variety of roles. I was adamant I could create something better so I started my own translation company.

What are you doing now?Ahmed Elnazir

I started Global Translations UK in my last year of university in the dinning room of my student flat in Jesmond, today the company employs 6 people with offices in Manchester and London. My job is to grow the business and take it to the next level. Our goal is to eliminate language and cultural barriers while creating an ethical and sustainable global company that prioritises their employees health and wellbeing.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

The opportunity to study and work in three different countries during my degree. Most universities only gave you the option of visiting one country. I completed my study abroad semester in Mexico and did my placement year in Sudan and Greece. I had the opportunity to experience three completely different cultures, which I'd knew would be useful in my career.
