Photovoltaics

The Photonics group conduct research into fundamental and applied topics related to light-matter interactions and the use of light for communications and wireless networks. The group uses pioneering experimental tools and advanced computational models to spearhead research, as well as work in collaboration with national and international partners.

This is a new Research Group composed of the following two established Research Groups at Northumbria:

Optical Communications Research Group (OCRG):
Specialising in visible light communications, non-linear control systems and optical sensor research.

Quantum and Molecular Photonics:
Offering extensive expertise in many topics in photonics including quantum optics and nanomanufacturing techniques; laser/maser technology and brightness enhanced light sources; photophysical and functional properties of organic semiconductors; novel photonic devices and applications enabled by structured light physics.
