Your PhD Journey

Application Timeline 2025 

November: As part of our strategy to actively promote Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, we will be hosting four pre-application workshops (two in-person and two online) in November 2025 to support interested applicants in developing a research proposal.

December: Candidates can attend one of our online drop-in application support sessions to discuss their proposal with a member of the team and receive guidance on the application process.

January: Applicants should apply via the online portal by 5pm 10th January 2025. You can read more information on our application process and how to apply.

February: Interviews will be held online in the week of 17th-21st February. To prepare for the interview, candidates will be provided with two academic papers to discuss with the panel, and they are expected to reflect on their proposed research – based on feedback provided. Notifications to successful applicants and offers will be made from late February to early March 2025. 

March: Unsuccessful applicants will be informed via email by the end of March. 

September: The training programme will commence in late September 2025. All students will be based at Northumbria University’s Newcastle-upon-Tyne campus.
