Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

It had a very welcoming and friendly feel from the first open day I attended. The course I chose was suited perfect to what I want to be studying as well as the opportunities it gives such as placements. Also the staff are very welcoming and helpful.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Very good student life. Plenty of night life to choose from and events every night. The university gives the opportunity for students to join societies, also there is the student union which is open day and night. The fact that eldon square is very close to the university and university accommodation is also very handy.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

How friendly the people are and how easy it has been to make friends. this was one of my main worries about starting uni.

To make sure you are organised in order to get assignments done and handed in on time. As well as this you need to plan advance to get the best grades possible.

I'd like to work either within the police force or as a prison officer. i feel that i have gained a lot of confidence as well as skills such as communication, working independently and within a team / group too. The fact i also have a placement opportunity within the prisons in third year also helps me towards my future career.

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

I have the opportunity to apply for placement in third year which I will be applying for. In the meantime I'm gaining voluntary experience to make myself stand out when I do apply.
