Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Reputation for Fashion Design course, placement year, the city.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I love Newcastle and how close I live to the town centre so I can walk anywhere I want to go or just get on the Metro to the beach, the nightlife is amazing and it has good places to go out  for meals too.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

I was impressed by the opportunities I have found in Newcastle within fashion.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Yes, very!

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

It was inspired me because the tutors have all come from industry.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The SU is good for food and drink with friends in a lunch break at uni and the basement in the library is a good place to work with friends also the space on the 3rd floor in the Design Building.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

I have joined the Cheerleading Squad, I would recommend joining a team for the social aspects and meeting a whole new group of friends.

What is the best thing about your course?

The creativity and freedom of where you take an idea.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Try every opportunity that comes because it might turn out better than you expected.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to work in a design team for a fashion brand, possibly knitwear design or print design. Learning to pattern cut and use illustrator.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

I did some work experience with a fashion show company which was a fantastic opportunity as I made garments for a fashion show in Newcastle and worked backstage there.

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

We went to London and Paris during Paris Fashion Week. We managed to get into one of the shows in Paris, go in all the designer stores, fabric shops and explore the city.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I feel a lot more independent!

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Fun, busy, experiences!

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Yes!
