Bsc Nursing Adult Student Stacey HoustonWhere are you from?

Newcastle upon Tyne

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Because of the facilities and reviews from other students that have studied here who said that this University was brilliant and staff were very helpful and supportive. I did my first year at a different university and really didn't enjoy it but this university is different and it is giving me a good experience of university life. I also always wanted to attend this university but did think I would get a chance because of its high standard, also this university is close to home meaning I have the support of family around me.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

One of the things I really enjoy about Newcastle is how friendly the people are. The good thing about studying within Newcastle/ Northumbria is there is a lot of facilities to assist when studying such as libraries.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

When joining Northumbria University I started straight in to second year this was a challenge because I didn't know any one on my course and this made me worry. After meeting a few of the staff members I felt a lot better because they are always there to talk to and support you. The other students I study with are amazing they're so welcoming and will always support and make sure you are ok and know what you are doing, where you should be and inform you if you have missed anything.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

The overall experience. I really enjoy studying at this university and have loved meeting new people and I find the staff very pleasant and good role models.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

The staff. Especially Sue Tiplady, she is always there making sure you are okay, if you have a problem are concern she will always listen and try to help you to the best of her ability.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The library I find is very peaceful and it is easy to study there.

What is the best thing about your course?

The facilities the university has to offer/ teaching abilities and facilities.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

In the future I would like to qualify as a nurse and get job soon after leaving university and later in life, I would like to specialise.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

I would tell them to chose Northumbria University if they have the chance because they will never look back and regent the decision. It will help them to get that job they have always wanted and prepare them to do the job.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Life changing experience.
