Getting to know how the academic and practical worlds fit together and how they support each other.

What advice would you give to others considering placement?

I personally consider this year an essential part of the overall course since it helps students gain experience in the practical world that helps them in final year studies and gives them an extra edge in the job market upon graduation.

What did you enjoy the most?

Getting to work on various projects that helped me gain experience in different construction fields.

What did you do when you weren’t working/studying?

Go to the gym !

Who did you learn the most from during your placement experience?

The company is made up of teams with experience in different areas which I would say staff from all of these contributed to my learning.

How did your placement experience contribute to your employability skills?

Gaining knowledge in topics that are playing major roles in the construction industry such as BIM and developing skills that employers consider a must such as collaboration, communication and time-keeping.

How did your placement experience contribute to your own personal development?

It helped me develop as an individual by gaining transferable practical skills, confidence and the ability to prioritize.
