Where are you from?

Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I chose Northumbria because it is renowned for it's Nursing Courses. My mother also studied BSc at Northumbria and it is close to home.

Clinical Skills

What is the best thing about your course?

The variety of teaching and type of assessments/placement and the ability to get first-hand experience.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

I have learned not to judge people on face value - many people have their own battles behind closed doors.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

Working in a clinical setting with children - SCBU/Oncology developed many skills and I have gained so much more confidence from the beginning of my time here at Northumbria.

Have you worked on any prohects with businesses or been on a placement? What were you most memorable experiences?

During my first placement my most memorable experience was being given the chance to take full care of my own patient on a surgical ward. The positive feedback I received from the child, parents, and staff are really memorable moments for me.
