Applying for your visa inside the UK
Applying for your visa inside the UK
If you meet requirements for your new course and is eligible to switch into Student visa or extend your current Student visa inside the UK, your new CAS will be sent to the Immigration Adviser within the Student Advice and Support Team who will arrange an online visa appointment for you.

If you have been living inside the UK with a valid immigration permission for the last 12 months and have not been absent from the UK for a considerable period of time, you will not be required to provide financial evidence as part of your Student visa application to the UKVI. However, you will still be required to provide evidence that you can support yourself financially and cover your course fees and maintenance expenses to the WIFT before your visa application appointment.
To be eligible to apply for a new Student visa inside the UK you must successfully complete your previous course for which your current Student visa was issued. Your new course must also start no later than 28 days after your current Student visa expires.

You may be able to switch to a Student visa if you already have permission to be in the UK.
You cannot switch to Student visa if you have one of the following visas:

a visit visa
-
a short-term student visa
-
a parent of a child student visa
-
a seasonal worker visa
-
a domestic worker in a private household visa
-
leave outside the immigration rules
If you previously held a Student visa for either Northumbria University or another institution, you must meet Academic Progression requirement, please see further guidance here
Your new course must also start no later than 28 days after your current Student visa expires.
You must apply for your new Student visa before your new course start date or current visa expiry date whichever is the earliest.
If your current Visa does not allow you to study (for example, Graduate Immigration Route), you must be granted Student visa before enrolling on your course.
