What will I learn on this module?
This module brings together all your entrepreneurial learning to support your future plans. The module will support you to understanding your own entrepreneurial effectiveness by how you have lead a venture or taken a leadership role in enterprising activities. You and your peers will work on understanding your own entrepreneurial effectiveness by integrating learning from your time on the programme and thinking about your future plans and thus a focus on how you, your venture or your enterprising activities need to develop before you graduate to support your future career. If you have decided to take a more enterprising career again you will focus on understanding how you need to develop your leadership capabilities for graduate success. You will do this by continuing to work in your coaching team and being supported by a Team Coach.
You will take a leadership role in the all programme events and supports on the programme to develop their entrepreneurial learning.
This module is self-directed so you and your peers will direct your own learning in coaching sessions with support from your team Coach however some of the topics you may cover are;
Sustaining a venture (From Digital Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial eco-systems and Policy
Securing finance for business growth
Running an ethically and socially responsible business
Hiring and employing staff
Professionalising your business
Legal and financial issues of sustaining a business
Options of closing a business
There are several activities which you will take part in across the year, some will be other cohorts on the programme

How will I learn on this module?
You will learn through weekly coaching sessions through your own experience of leading your venture and developing your entrepreneurial effectiveness. These coaching sessions allow you to use your venture or your enterprising activities to decide which are the most relevant topics for you and will allow you to practise these topics which will develop your learning further.
You will be supported by some lectures to discuss how to sustain your venture and leadership development topics.
How will I be supported academically on this module?
Support will be provided to you by a member of academic staff who will act as your Coach and help to facilitate your learning and growing your venture.
The module is supported by a Teaching and Learning Plan which will be developed in collaboration with you and the team at the start of the module.
The eLp will be used as a resource for relevant materials as well as serving as a communication hub for relevant course information, assessment submission and discussion boards.
You will be provided with a specialist electronic reading list that comprises of various materials including reports, book chapters and journal article that showcases the application of a variety of subject materials, however this will develop over the year as your and team identify relevant topics.
What will I be expected to read on this module?
All modules at Northumbria include a range of reading materials that students are expected to engage with. Online reading lists (provided after enrolment) give you access to your reading material for your modules. The Library works in partnership with your module tutors to ensure you have access to the material that you need.
What will I be expected to achieve?
Knowledge & Understanding:
You will be able to recognise a variety of entrepreneurial careers, including sustaining a venture. (MLO1)
Intellectual / Professional skills & abilities:
• Be able to visualise and articulate a range of future options by scanning the environment and exploring your own capabilities. (MLO2)
Evidence your leadership and/or entrepreneurial effectiveness capabilities (MLO3)
Personal Values Attributes (Global / Cultural awareness, Ethics, Curiosity) (PVA):
Demonstrate the learning ability, qualities and transferable skills necessary for self-employment, employment or a graduate career . (MLO5)
How will I be assessed?
Formative assessment (MLO1,2,3,4)
You will be required to run your own coaching sessions either individually or in a small group.
You will be required to report on your business activity.
You will receive feedback on the above through your venture team
Summative assessment (MLO1,2,3,4)
You will be assessed via two assessments
A team presentation (25%) Discussing your teams learning over the programme to include leadership activities and plans for after graduation
A 2000 word individual portfolio assignment (75%)
This assignment will require you reflect on leadership capabilities and/or entrepreneurial effectiveness and how these fit with your future plans, which may, for example include leading your venture for future success.

Module abstract
On Student Enterprise: Growing a Venture you will be supported in a coaching environment to understand your entrepreneurial effectiveness and/or your leadership capabilities. You will be supported to think about how your entrepreneurial effectiveness has developed throughout your time on the programme and how you can use this in your future career. Your learning will be supported by a Team Coach. Using this method of learning allows you to direct and tailor your learning to enable a more transformative experience.
Through this module you will engaging in practical activities such as an entrepreneurial bootcamp and you will work with other students across all three years on the student led enterprise events.
