This masterclass aims to begin to develop your understanding of how best to support survivors of sexual violence.

1:3 women and 1:10 men will experience sexual violence at some point in their life. Disclosure of this and the subsequent reaction of the healthcare professional can have a profound effect on ongoing health and wellbeing therefore, it is essential healthcare professionals understand the nature of sexual violence to aid in supporting survivors.

This topic is broad, the masterclass allows for an introduction to gain an awareness within the context of the UK and healthcare access.

One Day Workshop Agenda:

- Understanding sexual violence

- An overview of sexual violence disclosure

- Safeguarding and legal frameworks

- Signposting and support

Case studies will be used to explore some of the more complex situation you may come across in order to demonstrate application to practice.
