Assessment

2023/24 ARTA

In line with the Statement of Intent published by the UK Standing Committee for Quality Assessment in May 2019, our Degree Outcome Statement (2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23) analyse Northumbria's degree classification profile over time. The Statements also address how Northumbria delivers transparent, consistent and fair academic standards, in line with the Expectations of the Office for Students' ongoing conditions of registration on academic standards.

In addition to assessment and External Examiners protocols, the University has procedures for the approval and review of modules and programmes.

The Academic Regulations for Taught Awards (ARTA) are the standard regulations which apply to all the University’s academic programmes delivered in the UK or overseas (including under franchise arrangements), and by distance learning. Any variations to these regulations can found on this page.  The following are the current Academic Regulations for Taught Awards (ARTA):

  • Academic Regulations for Taught Awards 2024/25 ** This edition of the Academic Regulations supersedes previous versions and applies to all students at levels 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 at the University enrolling or re-enrolling on taught programmes in the 2024/25 academic year **

The Assessment for Learning and Achievement Policy  consolidates all our assessment and feedback policies into one document which sets out how the University delivers high quality assessment and feedback.
