Dr Hellmuth Weich

Assistant Professor

Department: Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing

Hellmüth grew up in South Africa. Before moving to the United Kingdom, he was the Acting Head of the Department of Social Work at Fort Hare University, South Africa. Prior to joining De Montfort University, he worked as a child protection social worker in Norfolk. He is currently a senior lecturer and his research involvement includes various national and international research and consultancy projects. As examples, he was the Lead Researcher for a programme with Skills for Care, setting up and evaluating an exchange of Social Workers between South Africa and the UK and a senior researcher evaluating the Step up to Social Work Programme for the DfE.
