Dr Anthony Weke

Lecturer

Anthony trained and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in Ghana in 2016. In 2018, Anthony’s ambition to impact the health of the population beyond clinical environments led him to relocate to the UK to study for MSc Public Health and Health Services Research funded by the Newcastle University Vice Chancellor Excellence tuition fee scholarship at Newcastle University. In 2019, Anthony qualified and entered the UK NMC register as a Registered Nurse (Adult). In January 2020, Anthony commenced his PhD Population Health Sciences studies partly funded by the Newcastle University Oversees Research Scholarship. During Anthony’s PhD study he worked part-time as a staff nurse in care homes around the North-East of England, as a Teaching Assistant in the department of Psychology, and then a Research Assistant in the department of Dental Sciences both at Newcastle University. In November 2023, Anthony joined Northumbria University department of Nursing Midwifery and Health as a Lecturer in Adult Nursing. Anthony completed his PhD from Newcastle University in July 2024.
