Dr Anthony Weke

Lecturer

Department: Nursing, Midwifery & Health

Anthony is a registered nurse with interest in nursing education and public health research. Anthony has a Bachelor of Nursing Science (first class) awarded by University of Ghana. Anthony obtained MSc Public Health and Health Services Research from Newcastle University, UK, funded by the Newcastle University Vice Chancellor Excellence scholarship award. Anthony also completed PhD in Population Health Sciences from Newcastle University, partly funded by the Newcastle University Oversees Research Scholarship award.

Anthony entered the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council register as a Registered Nurse (Adult) in 2019 and has worked in different Health and Social Care settings within the NorthEast of England. In November 2023, Anthony joined Northumbria University department of Nursing Midwifery and Health as a Lecturer in Adult Nursing.

Anthony is an advocate for health promotion and focuses on research that aims to create healthy public policies, supportive environments, community action, individual skill development, and reorientation of health services.
