Katherine Jones

Kath's PhD studies how technologies support joint engagement for children who are blind or visually impaired and their sighted partners.

Her position as a Research Fellow at Northumbria University lies within the interdisciplinary PROBabLE Futures (Probabilistic AI Systems in Law Enforcement Futures) project. This is a four-year, £3.4M RAi funded project led by Northumbria University and involving Glasgow, Northampton, Leicester, Aberdeen and Cambridge Universities and endeavours to deliver an ‘operational-ready’ blueprint of an evidence-based, contextually informed and future-oriented framework for responsible AI in law enforcement and criminal justice.

Kath’s research interests lie in accessibility and the inclusivity of technologies.

Kath has an academic background in Psychology, Teaching and Social work, having completed a BSc in Psychology at the University of South Wales, a PGCE at Cardiff University, a DipSW at Bristol University, a CELTA at the City of Bristol College, and a MSc in Psychological Research Methods at the University of Exeter.

Outside of the PhD, Kath has many interests, including reading, films, computer games, board games, knitting, crochet, crafts, the outdoors and nature.
