HCPC registered occupational therapist with over twenty years experience working in neuro and stroke rehabilitation. Practice experience within hyper acute, inpatient rehabilitation and community settings.

I joined Northumbria University in 2022 on secondment from Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Trust. During this time I have develloped the practice skills component of the curriculum including simulation based learning resources.

Research Themes and Scholarly Interests

My research interests predominently lie within th area of simulation, experiential and simulation based learning. I am currently involved in a project looking at clinical reasoning skills development using 360 VR simulation as a method to enhance these essential skills within students. This is an education enhancement award funded project. Production phase is now complete and evaluation phase will commence autumn/winter 2026/2027.

I also have interest in the concept of belonging and am involved in a collaborative research project looking at student belonging on placement with colleagues from physiotherapy. We are working on developing a 'belonging scale' with the aim of roll out into practice in 2027. A launch event is planned for January 2027.
