Dr Lynn Dover

Associate Professor

Department: Applied Sciences

Dr Lynn Dover Staffprofile Northumbriauniversity255Lynn began his biological education at Sunderland Polytechnic graduating with BSc Applied Biology in 1990.  His enduring fascination for microbial pathogenicity, and applied research in general, was sparked by a sandwich placement at the Chemical Defence Establishment, Porton Down.

His doctoral studies at the University of Hull provided the foundation for his current research interests in mycobacteria (and their relatives) and the bacterial acquisition of iron. During his long post-doctoral career he contributed to the understanding of the role of various facets of bacterial physiology and genomics in the establishment and control of infections including meningitis and tuberculosis producing over 50 publications.

Lynn joined Northumbria in 2007 as a Senior Lecturer in Medical Microbiology contributing to the development of MSc Biotechnology and MSc Microbiology as well as microbiological and biochemical aspects of the undergraduate curriculum in Biomedical Science.
