Dr Burak Cavdaroglu

Assistant Professor

Dr. Cavdaroglu is an Assistant Professor in Business Analytics at the Department of Marketing, Operations, and Systems, having joined the faculty in 2023. He earned his Ph.D. in Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), USA. With over a decade of experience in teaching and research, Dr. Cavdaroglu previously held faculty positions in Industrial Engineering in Turkey and served as a Senior Lecturer at Teesside University Business School.

Dr. Cavdaroglu's research interests encompass a broad spectrum, including combinatorial optimization, network modeling, metaheuristics, and timetabling. He leverages his expertise to tackle real-world problems in areas such as disaster management—focusing on infrastructure restoration—and sports management, specifically tournament scheduling. His work has been published in prestigious journals, including the European Journal of Operational Research, Computers & Operations Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Annals of Operations Research, and Operations Research Letters.

Dr. Cavdaroglu is dedicated to bridging the gap between theory and practice, utilizing both mathematical and empirical methods to develop and analyze management problems. He actively seeks industry collaborations to formulate research questions with practical applications. His teaching portfolio includes courses such as Business Statistics and Data Analytics, Analytics for Competitive Advantage, Research Methods and Analytics for Business Practice, Business Information Management, Operations Research, Decision Analysis, Statistics and Probability, Statistical Quality Control, Network Flows, Supply Chain Management, Facility Layout and Design, Systems Simulation.
