Dr Kelechi Anyigor

Assistant Professor

Department: Mechanical and Construction Engineering

Dr. Kelechi Anyigor is an Assistant Professor of Project Management in the School of Architecture and Built Environment. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Nigeria, and an MSc in Project Management from Northumbria University, Newcastle, United Kingdom. Motivated by a passion for urban development and the transformation of deprived communities, he pursued a PhD in the School of Built and Natural Environment at Northumbria University.

Before relocating to the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies, Dr. Anyigor gained substantial professional experience in Nigeria, serving as an Operations Manager in the real estate sector and later as a Geography tutor in the education sector. In the UK, he has held positions as an Associate Lecturer and as Head of Research and Training for a UK-based charity operating across Africa and Asia. In this role, he demonstrated strong leadership by coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver impactful poverty alleviation and community development projects in Africa, Asia, and the UK. Among his notable achievements is the establishment of a fully operational free school for orphans and disadvantaged children in Hyderabad, India.

Dr. Anyigor has made significant contributions to leadership and academic development, serving as Coordinator of the MSc Project Management programme at Northumbria University’s Amsterdam Campus, and subsequently as Programme Leader for the MSc Project Management and MSc Construction Project Management programmes. He currently serves as Head of Subject for the Construction Project Management Subject Group, where he continues to promote academic excellence and innovative pedagogy.

His research has been published in several high-quality, peer-reviewed journals, reflecting his scholarly engagement with themes such as project resilience, leadership, and sustainable community development. Dr. Anyigor remains deeply committed to advancing knowledge and practice in project management, leadership, and community empowerment.

Kelechi’s research interest is the interplay of the social, economic, and environmental aspects of deprived urban communities in the delivery of sustainable improvement projects. He is also interested in Leadership and knowledge management for effective project delivery.
