Read the latest issue of Northumbria University News: Autumn 2024 edition

5th November 2024

The Autumn 2024 edition of Northumbria University’s newspaper is available to collect on campus or read online now.

Packed with the latest news, features and interviews, the newspaper is the perfect way to keep up to date with the exciting developments taking place across the University.

In this issue we highlight Northumbria being recognised as one of the top universities in the UK after being named Modern University of the Year 2025 by The Times and The Sunday Times. The title was awarded in recognition of Northumbria’s research quality, student satisfaction, and work to improve social mobility.

Included with this issue is an eight-page feature, Driving Change. Inspiring Potential – a special collaboration with The Guardian which shines a spotlight on some of the ways Northumbria researchers are working with partners to find new solutions to global challenges. From creating clean, safe drinking water from solar power, to tackling a shortage of nurses in the NHS, the feature showcases Northumbria’s expertise in space, computing, energy and health research.

Throughout this issue we celebrate the success of our students, including award wins for Fashion, Design and Architecture students. We also recognise the achievements of our academics, from significant funding awards to fellowships bestowed by prestigious organisations.

And in our sports pages, we shine a light on the success of our graduates, with Northumbria alumni competing in both the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris over the summer.
