Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

We are helping to build effective and accountable organisations which provide justice to all.  From our research on corruption, to our nationally renowned Northumbria Centre for Evidence and Criminal Justice Studies, we are making an important difference both locally and nationally.

In the Spotlight: The Student Law Office

The Student Law office is our award-winning student law clinic which offers free legal services to members of the public, businesses and community groups free of charge. As a pro-bono service, the office offers access to justice to those who would have otherwise struggled to have legal representation. The areas the clinic is able to assist with include welfare, family law and civil disputes. The office has dealt with over 3000 enquiries, represented more than 1000 clients and secured over £1 million on their behalf since it opened in 2008.
