I am a highly organised and independent individual with Comprehensive knowledge of Business and Management. I am a first class honours degree holder in BSc (Hons) in Business and Management by the age of 21. I have worked with many social and voluntary organisations in the fields of lecturing, mentoring, guiding and motivating along with passion towards self-development and continues improvement. I have led many projects during my college and university period, I aspired my fellow followers, mentees by my excellent proficiency in leadership and interpersonal skills. Moreover, my skills in project management and time management have drastically helped me in fitting myself to in deadlines and pressure points. I have received distinctive awards and achievements in terms of sports and extracurricular activities since I have always been an enthusiast towards them. furthermore, I have developed my skills and co-competencies by managing my college prefect board, college rugby and athletic team, cadet platoon and university student council and gavel club. In conclusion, I aspire to be an exceptional leader in the field of business and management by inspiring many individuals I work with.

What are you doing now?

I am now an assistance Manager for Sales & Marketing department in the one of the largest MEP Contracting Company in Qatar. I am in charge of handling a sales team of 7 dedicated sales engineers targeting various segments of Qatar Manufacturing and Construction Industries.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

Northumbria University is one of the top ranked business school in the UK, that provide research rich curriculum in the field of business and management in Sri Lanka and rest of the world made me choose Northumbria as my first option.

What was it like studying at Northumbria? 

It was a great experience for me and being part of student Council and team projects added value to my soft skills and leadership capabilities.

How connected was your course with industry? 

We frequently had guest lecturers visiting from industries during our study and we had privilege of being part of international research symposium had help us a lot to get new connection from relevant industry and at our local campus we had career placement fairs annual assisted us to get job placements as soon as we graduated from Northumbria University.

If you took on a placement during your course how did you feel this helped you in your career/ with your studies?

Actually the placement helped us to choose good ranked local companies and the fields that are more attractive in the job market and we had privileges of getting placement and internship in Multinational companies and local companies in emerging markets.

What was the best thing about your course?

Our course work always tested our ability to think out of the box and learning knowledge rich curriculum researches throughout our degree program was really shaped the way we think and approach contemporary management issues.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/ give your career an edge?

Having a world class degree from one of the top ranking university has always allowed me to have an edge in the corporate world.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

Brainstorming skills, personnel management and projects management skills allowed me to step up my learning ability, problem solving capabilities and thought process throughout my career journey.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

Personally I enjoyed learning from the best lecturer panel dedicatedly looking after our progress during our study period.

What advice would you give somebody who is considering studying at Northumbria?

I believe that continuous learning very essential for keep us updated in the corporate world and getting that required rich knowledge and skills from Northumbria University has one of the best decision I have ever made and It will be yours too.
