I am a barrister, specialising in personal injury and family law. I studied law at Northumbria and completed the BPTC. From there, I became a member of Trinity Chambers in Newcastle, before returning to my home town to continue my career.

I am a barrister at Exchange Chambers in Liverpool.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

Northumbria has fantastic facilities, amazing staff and incredible links to prospective employers.

What was it like studying at Northumbria?

It was brilliant. The mixture of lectures and seminars was perfect. The best thing though is the quality of teaching staff.

How connected was your course with industry?

Extremely. I was taught by members of the chambers I eventually joined.

What was the best thing about your course?

The teaching, closely followed by the facilities.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/ give your career an edge?

Northumbria brought my dream to life of becoming a barrister. The interaction between academic teaching and practical treatment showed me how to put my legal knowledge into practice.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

Where to find the law. How to use Westlaw etc.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

 Everything!

What advice would you give somebody who is considering studying at Northumbria?

If you want to put a legal degree into practice the M Law course is perfect.

How would you describe your time at Northumbria in three words?

 Fun, productive and successful.
