Who Is.. Jennifer Allinson

Jennifer Allinson, Project Development Manager

Jennifer became Project Development Manager at Northumbria University in February 2021, having led the writing of the original Creative Fuse bid in 2015, under the direction of Professor Eric Cross at Newcastle University.

Jennifer has over 17 years’ experience working both in and across the creative and cultural sectors. After graduating in Fine Art Jennifer spent a scholarship research year studying sculpture at Munich Academy of Art and followed this with entrepreneurship training at Durham Business School. Jennifer then worked as a consultant in a product design firm and set up her own sculpture studio/ workshop.

Jennifer has over eight years of working in the Higher Education sector in the North East, both in regional roles and directly in institutions as an employee and freelance contractor. This work has focussed on building the creative economy and engaging local communities through collaborative working and creative programming.

In more recent years Jennifer has worked in Local Authorities in senior management roles – designing and delivering Cultural strategy, securing, and delivering world class events as well as overseeing destination marketing and tourism portfolios.

Outside of Creative Fuse, Jennifer is a consultant providing a range of services from strategic policy development to bid writing, project management, programme design and delivery. She has been a practicing sculptor for more than 20 years and works from her home studio in Newcastle upon Tyne.
