OPEN ACCESS

Northumbria Law School has embraced and excelled in Open Access through ‘Diamond’ access (free to publish, free to access) and has utilised the journal platform ‘Open Journal Systems’ – an open-source software application for managing and publishing journals.

The Law School actively seeks to engage and influence the wider Open Access agenda and the University has made a significant investment in an Open Access publication fund which enables researchers to enhance impact for selected publications through Open Access publication. The Law School has launched five academic journals, and a sixth professional practice and academic research journal for students in higher education in any discipline.

These include:

  • Journal of Legal Research Methodology
  • Journal of Law, Technology and Trust
  • The Student Journal of Professional Practice and Academic Research
  • International Journal of Public Legal Education
  • International Journal of Gender, Sexuality and Law
  • International Journal of Mental Health and Capacity Law
  • International Journal of Clinical Legal Education
