Our Alumni - Work For Us
To study at Northumbria, all students must be enrolled. As a Carousel Distance Learning student, you can enrol from home and are not required to travel to campus.
Enrolment gives you access to:
- Your Programme site and teaching schedule
- University IT systems
You must complete your enrolment by the deadline provided by your Enrolment Advisor.
See Enrolling or re-enrolling onto your Carousel Distance Learning programme in Ask4Help Online on your Student Portal for full guidance.
If you have forgotten your username, please contact IT Chat. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset this using DUO (UK mobile numbers only) or via IT Chat.
Important information about paying tuition fees during enrolment:
If you are self-funded or using a postgraduate loan (Student Finance England / Student Finance Wales), you will need to pay for your first module during enrolment.
If you are a sponsored student, you must provide a sponsor letter to your Student Success Adviser in advance of your enrolment deadline, otherwise you will be required to pay for your first module during the enrolment task. Please view the article Payment of fees by a sponsor in Ask4Help Online on your Student Portal for further information.
Accessing Your Programme Material
After enrolment and if payment (if applicable), you will get access to your module content on Blackboard within 2 working days.
Please note: Content may not appear until your course start date.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) offers an extra layer of protection for your Northumbria account by adding a second step (a push notification) to verify your identity when you log in.
After enrolling onto your programme, you will be sent an email from DUO (sent by no-reply@duosecurity.com) prompting you to download the DUO Mobile app to your Smartphone.
See our Duo Multi-Factor Authentication webpage for more information.
As part of your induction, you will receive an email invitation to attend a welcome webinar where you will:
- Engage with your academic leads
- Meet your Student Success Advisor
- Identify a selection of services available to you
- Interact with the other students on the course
- Ask any initial questions you may have
We encourage you to make time to attend the webinar - it’s a great opportunity to get your learning off to the best possible start. Please note, you may not receive your induction email invitation until your course start date.
If you need further help with your enrolment please contact your Enrolment Advisor on +44 2843780292 or via this contact form.
As part of the University's commitment to a safe and respectful environment, you must complete the following mandatory training as part of your induction:
Consent Training
Understanding consent means we are all able to have more safe, healthy and enjoyable sexual experiences. This training will help you:
- Understand the law around consent and your ethical obligations.
- Explore how gender, stereotypes, and culture affect consent.
- Learn how to communicate clearly with partners and respond to sexual harassment or violence.
Bystander Training
This training will help you:
- Learn to safely intervene using the 5Ds model - Direct, Distract, Delegate, Delay, Disapprove.
- Recognise and challenge harmful behaviours, including those that may seem like 'banter'.
- Understand how harassment intersects with identity.
- Promote empathy, inclusion, and respectful expression.
Once you are fully enrolled onto your programme, we will contact you via email with details of how to complete the training via BlackBoard.
