What will I learn on this module?
You will learn interpersonal and work ready skills that will prepare you for placements and future employment within the construction industry.
How will I learn on this module?
Workshops with your academic tutors and guest lecturers on related topics will provide the foundations for developing your employability skills. In addition to the taught element you will be guided to sources of knowledge that will enhance your learning. You will also be encouraged to engage in discussions about your progress with peers and academic tutors.
How will I be supported academically on this module?
The University’s blackboard (Elp) will be used to support you and facilitate academic tutor directed learning. This will be in the form of the teaching material and supporting documents, such as research papers, web links and videos. You will be provided with formative feedback during formally scheduled teaching sessions.
What will I be expected to read on this module?
All modules at Northumbria include a range of reading materials that students are expected to engage with. Online reading lists (provided after enrolment) give you access to your reading material for your modules. The Library works in partnership with your module tutors to ensure you have access to the material that you need.
What will I be expected to achieve?

1. Distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable professional practices related to employability.
2. Appraise regulations and responsibilities associated with Professional Conduct and Duty of Care within the work environment.

How will I be assessed?
Formative Assessment
Formative assessment will be used to allow you to build confidence and highlight any misunderstandings you may have of the professional concepts presented in the module. Additional formative feedback shall be delivered to you verbally by academic tutors during formally scheduled teaching and individual or group activity-based sessions
Summative Assessment
As a 0-credit module there will not be a summative assessment. The measure of your success will be through the successful achievement of a placement, should you wish to apply for one, and/or your ability to use these transferable skills in your future applications for employment.

Module abstract
The aim of this module is to facilitate your application and participation in enhance your employability skills. Workshops will offer a vehicle for the dissemination and practical application of module information, after which you will be encouraged to pursue knowledge acquisition through questioning and discussion with academic tutors, industry guest lecturers and your peers.

Full time Courses are primarily delivered via on-campus face to face learning but could include elements of online learning.
